(Gossard, Dianna) 2010 introduction
(DON'T LOOK BACK x TETRA JEAN SWANN )
TET 35" Midseason Dormant emo very fragrant 6" flowers 3 way branching 15-18 buds. Fertile both ways. Rebloomer
Double Angels have creme pink flowers with darker pink eyezone. Registered as 99% double, however I have never seen it not double. Not to surprising since it's pedigree has a lot of converted doubles in it.
Part of our pursuit in hybridizing doubles is to make them more Northern hardy, there are only a few tetraploid doubles being produced today which are dormant. Our conversion of many dormant diploid doubles have greatly increased the hardness in our lines. Jamie has converted many more dormant doubles, which will be incorporated into future introductions. Double Angels brings the genes of TETRA JEAN SWANN, a semi-evergreen, a cross of FRANCES JOINER x VANILLA FLUFF to the tetraploid level. Also Interesting is that the pod parent, a Kirchhoff introduction, DON'T LOOK BACK , an evergreen from cross of a sdlg x TETRA SILOAM DOUBLE CLASSIC has unique converted genes in it also. While both parents are evergreen, DOUBLE ANGELS is a Dormant. The Grandparents, FRANCES JOINER , VANILLA FLUFF and SILOAM DOUBLE CLASSIC are all dormants. Because of the environmental selection process, being we live in great white north, we select mainly for dormants. They are what performs best in our zone 5 garden. As you can see if you hybridize in the north, DOUBLE ANGELS can be an important parent because of its dormancy. If crossed back with a dormant double, offspring will show a very high amount of dormancy in its children. It is know wonder why the kids from DOUBLE ANGELS were so good in the seedling patch.......$100
