Heat Seeker
(Gossard, Dianna)  2009 fall introduction

(Fire Breathing Dragon x Crimson Guard)
TET   40" Midseason Dormant emo fragrant 5.5" 4 way branching  23 buds. Fertile both ways.

Heat Seeker is an intense burnt orange-red double daylily. It has a darker orange-red eyezone with a green-yellow-red throat. Petals and sepels have a small yellow gold edge. It has a tall well branched scapes which allows it to bloom for a long time. In our zone 5 garden, it is difficult to find tall doubles, such is very rare. Heat Seeker is a great garden cultivars and has been a good parent for hybridizing for northern hardy doubles. I have seen a few single blooms, but 85-95% are double. Rare genes from John Benz's Crimson Guard which is out of Hiodoshi x Tetra W29. From a hybridizing point of view, I find crossing oranges and reds together gives intense shades of orange-red. Such shades give color intensity which can be seen from a great distance, thus making HEAT SEEKER a great garden plant.....$100
